Walkley History

News, events and discoveries of the Walkley Ways, Walkley Wars history project.

Would you like to lead guided walks?

Would you like a train as a guided walk leader?

Bill leading a walk
As part of the Streets of Walkley project we have funding to train people to be guided walk leaders and to buy audio equipment for the Walkley Historians to help broadcast leaders’ voices over traffic.
Would you like to train as a walk leader and commit to lead at least one free Walkley walk during 2019, and one walk a year in 2020 and 2021?
If so, please contact us so we can arrange training. This opportunity isn’t limited to members of Walkley Historians, so if there are others you know who might be interested, please let them know.
The topics for the walks will be about Victorian Walkley, and will be themed, eg Walkley’s Lost Pubs, Crime and Punishment, Freehold Land Societies, Life and Times of Walkley’s Victorians, Church and Chapels, etc. We can also lead the Ruskin Reach guided walk, which I developed for the Ruskin-in-Sheffield project.
You can use your new found skills in other areas and for other groups too of course.
