A key Officer of the Club has submitted a formal letter of resignation from the Committee, but the meeting quickly turns to another matter – the many wounded soldiers in Sheffield and a way the Club might help them.

[11 August 1915]
Minutes of Executive committee, held Aug 11th 1915, Mr A Wragg presiding.
The minutes of previous meeting held July 7th were read, & passed as correct record.
The correspondence was then read, & nominations for membership accepted.
Regarding Mr D Smith’s letter, resigning his position as a member of the committee, no action was taken.
The question was then raised as to whether the Club should do anything in the way of entertaining some of the wounded soldiers, of whom there are so many in Sheffield, & the following were elected as a sub-comittee to consider the matter, & report to next executive, via:- Couns: W Appleyard, W F Jackson, Messrs Hobson, Wragg, Smith, Morton, Jarvis, Ball & Jennett.
This concluded the business & a vote of thanks to the chairman brought the meeting to a close.
