Walkley Reform Club’s Origins

Friday night’s History IS Here talk is a very special one. Three Walkley Historians will present the results of their research on the early history of Walkley Reform Club and the people of Fir St it was built to help reform. Dating from 1909, the club building is now Walkley Community Centre. We will hear Hugh, Frances and Anna talk in Ruskin Hall, one of the Reform Club’s original rooms where dances, performances and committee meetings were held. The chairs you will sit on have been used in the club since at least the 1950s, probably longer.

So come along and sit on a piece of local heritage while discovering the origins of this iconic Walkley building.

Walkley Community Centre, 7a Fir St, 7pm. Free entry. There will be a small cafe.
