Walkley Historians discuss Ruskin Park’s lost streets

We had another meeting of the Walkley Historians tonight. The Walkley Community Centre’s Appleyard Room was buzzing, as more than one historian mentioned.

Work on the displays for the Ruskin Park Fun Day is really gathering a pace. A couple of historians have done more oral history interviews this week to gather information about the houses on Elton St and Harworth St. Others are collating the content for the displays to decide which goes in each house.

We also reviewed other oral history interviews, research on the Reform Club and the Club’s First World War veterans.

The next meeting is Tuesday, 23rd July, 7:00pm at St Mary’s Community Hall, South Road. Please come along if you would like to help research Walkley’s past.
